I recently visited Saltines Restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience. The oysters were absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly served. If you go during happy hour, the value is unbeatable. The 50-cent oysters and dollar jumbo shrimp are an incredible deal, especially for the quality you’re getting. The food overall was excellent, the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, and the whole experience felt like a great combination of quality seafood and great value. Everything we tried was delicious, and the service and environment made it even better. Great food, great value, great atmosphere — I’ll definitely be back again.

Stopped by for lunch today and was not disappointed. The atmosphere is great, welcoming and friendly. I had to have a cup of She Crab Soup, which was rich, creamy, full of crab and absolutely perfect! I also had a Middle Neck Clam dish that was out of sight, and finished it off with a nice Key Lime Cake that hit the spot. Highly Recommend the Saltine. Great spot for lunch and I am sure for dinner as well!

I went to this restaurant as the first place I visited while on a business trip. I was staying just a block away, so it was an easy walk, and I wanted to try Virginia blue crab for the first time. I ordered the she crab soup, which I’d never had before, and it was absolutely delicious. The bread and butter they bring to the table is ridiculously good. I also ordered the Virginia blue crab cake dinner with two crab cakes. Honestly, it wasn’t my favorite, but I think that’s more a reflection of my own tastes than the preparation or quality of the food. Overall, I’m really glad I came here and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. The only thing I’d mention is that the entrance felt a little confusing at first. After taking a second to look around, though, it became obvious where the hostess stand was, and I was seated right away. The atmosphere is darker but upscale, the music and temperature were just right, and the service was incredibly friendly - honestly some of the best service I’ve had in quite a while.

Oysters were excellent! We tried it all, you honestly can't go wrong. My only feedback on what we ordered was regarding 2 items: 1- the fish for seafood ceviche was cut in these huge chunks, which was very unappetizing and way too thick 2- the delicata squash was super salty. We ordered it as a side to our scallops and it was hard to enjoy bc they were extremely salty. The ambiance was cool, we had a corner booth. The oysters are probably what I would return for- superb selection.

My time at saltine was awesome. It was a great birthday dinner for my mom with family. Our server was personable. We tried oysters, she crab soup, poke, and scallops. The oysters were excellent. The mignonette sauce had a nice balance of vinegar with a slight hint of heat. It was especially nice meeting James at the Raw Bar. His service was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the oysters and even let us know about the happy hour. We will back soon. Thank you our server, James, and Grain for a wonderful night!

I’m from Florida and always wondered if a seafood restaurant like this existed. Right in the thick of the waterfront; very clean, great vibe and really good seafood at a good price. Go see James and Trey at the raw bar, great service and very knowledgeable, just good people. My server Stephanie was friendly and attentive. I had raw and fried oysters, both perfect. I’m here for a week and already can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful location. Our server Kyle suggested the oysters Rockefeller, the lobster roll, and the calamari. We also ordered the smashburger. Everything was delivered hot and fresh. So delicious! Kyle was very attentive, without being over bearing. 100% can not wait to return

Happy hour menu is great for seafood lovers. Everything is fresh and delicious. Looking around the shrimp appears most popular. The calamari for me is the best I've had and trust me I've tried a lot. The outdoor seating is nice even on the warmest days.

Absolutely incredible experience at Saltine! From the moment I walked in, the hospitality was exceptional. Sheerice was an amazing hostess who made sure we were taken care of and got a great spot at the bar right away, which set the tone for such a wonderful evening. Chef Tony made the entire experience unforgettable. Not only were his food recommendations spot on, but he genuinely took the time to check in throughout the meal and make sure everything was perfect. Chef James was equally wonderful and provided the same kind of personalized, attentive service that made the experience feel so special and welcoming. Chef Trey also added so much fun to the experience, he was incredibly funny and brought such a great energy that made the night even more enjoyable. You can truly tell how much care and passion they put into both the food and the guests’ experience. The food itself was phenomenal, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, and the pricing was reasonable for the quality and overall experience. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers amazing food, outstanding service, and great value all at once. Between the incredible atmosphere, the amazing staff, and the outstanding food, this was easily one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. Huge thank you to Sheerice, Chef Tony, and Chef James for making the night so memorable. Five stars all around!

First time in Norfolk and we had our dinner reservation else where but really wanted to try Saltine as we stayed at the Hilton. First of all, Kyle, our server, was amazing! He was attentive and so understanding that we just wanted to try different appetizers so we don’t get too full for our dinner. The food came out fresh and delicious! The charbroiled bay oysters were way better than the one I had in New Orleans. Definitely will be back when visiting Norfolk!
